It’s hard enough to just learn the basics of drumming. We study and take drum lessons to learn how to play drums to the best of our ability but then someone yells, “Drum Solo!” – - – - Uh oh… now what?
Are you prepared to take a drum solo? It’s not as hard as you think. Like anything else, you just take it a step at a time. Learn to play drum solos by watching other drummers and emulating what they do. Of course you can also buy drum lesson books that have solos in them. But you can also just make them up! (It’s free!) — Start with a simple 2 beat drum fill that you like and then start experimenting to see what you can add to it to make it more interesting. The process of forming a drum solo can be fun! Check out these Drum Solo Tips.
